A Greenport man charged with driving while intoxicated Tuesday morning is also a deported illegal immigrant with a revoked license and outstanding warrant from Suffolk County police, Southold Town police said.

Police stopped Jose A. Alvizures, 30, on a traffic violation charge on state Route 25 in Mattituck at 1:03 a.m., according to a news release. He was believed to be intoxicated and was arrested, police said.

He provided identification from Guatemala with the name Gerardo Alguilar Bances, but police said they found that his real name was Alvizures.

Alvizures was arraigned Tuesday at town court and is being held on $10,000 bond for the driving while intoxicated charge, $5,000 bond on the revoked license charge and $500 bond on the impersonation charge, said Capt. Martin Flatley of the Southold police.

Flatley said Alvizures will be transferred to Suffolk County jail in Riverside, where he will face the outstanding warrant. In addition, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement also has been notified, Flatley said.
