Cops: John Tedesco seriously injured in Wyandanch crash
A 76-year-old Lindenhurst man was seriously injured in a multi-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in Wyandanch, Suffolk County police said.
John Tedesco suffered "serious trauma" in the collision and was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, police said. His condition was not immediately known on Thursday.
One of the other drivers, Richard Aylward, 38, of Holbrook, also was taken to Good Samaritan, where he was treated for minor injuries, police said.
The crash occurred on Long Island Avenue at 4 p.m.
Peter Vitetzakis, 45, of Westbury, was driving his 2012 work van east on Long Island Avenue when he broadsided the 2000 Hyundai station wagon driven by Tedesco, as Tedesco attempted to turn left from Doe Street onto westbound Long Island Avenue, police said. The impact sent the Hyundai careening backward into a 2007 Chevrolet work van driven by Aylward, police said.
No one has been charged in the accident, police said.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call First Squad detectives at 631-854-8152. All calls will remain confidential.
