Cops: Man burned holes in restaurant awning
A Wading River man has been charged with vandalizing a Port Jefferson bar and restaurant earlier this month, according to Suffolk County police.
Brian Colantropo, 34, of 11 Zophar Mills Rd. was arrested at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and charged with fifth-degree arson, fourth-degree criminal mischief and third-degree criminal trespassing, police said.
He was scheduled to appear in First District Court in Central Islip on May 7 on the charges, all misdemeanors, police said.
Colantropo entered the rear patio of Tommy's Place, at 109 Main St. in Port Jefferson, on March 1, kicked and damaged the back door the restaurant and used his lighter to burn several holes in an outdoor awning, police said.
Police offered no motive for his actions.
