Cops: No injuries in LIE crash; lanes reopen
An accident involving a box truck and a car closed three lanes of the westbound Long Island Expressway in Holtsville for about 40 minutes Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
No injuries were reported.
Suffolk County police said the crash occurred at about 2:35 p.m. and forced the lane closures affecting traffic between Exit 63, North Ocean Avenue, and Exit 62, Waverly Avenue.
Traffic cameras on the expressway showed fire department rescue personnel on the scene, as well as police. The crash caused minor traffic backups in the area before the New York State Department of Transportation said the lanes were reopened at 3:13 p.m.
