Dix Hills man arrested in bank robbery
A 23-year-old Dix Hills man was arrested Wednesday, accused of robbing a West Babylon bank on Monday.
Suffolk County police said Max Schneider of 21 Dix Circle faces charges of third-degree robbery and two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Police said Schneider walked into the Bank of America branch on Montauk Highway in West Babylon at about 1:30 p.m. Monday, handed a teller a note that stated he had a gun -- and demanded cash. After receiving the money, police said Schneider fled on foot.
It was not immediately clear what led police to Schneider.
He is scheduled for arraignment Thursday in First District Court in Central Islip.
