A driver died in Mount Sinai on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, after crashing into a tree, Suffolk County police said. The driver hit a tree on Chestnut Street just before 7:10 p.m., police said. Credit: Christopher Sabella

Police are investigating the death of a driver whose vehicle struck a tree Wednesday night in Mount Sinai.

Glenn Taylor, 66, of Mount Sinai, was driving a 2010 Toyota south on Chestnut Street just before 7:10 p.m. when he struck the tree about 500 feet south of Route 25A, Suffolk County police said.

Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The Toyota was impounded for a safety check.
