Man, 93, killed in Long Island Expressway crash in Melville, police say
A 93-year-old man died Monday night after crashing a minivan into a pole while headed east on the Long Island Expressway in Melville, Suffolk police said.
Police on Wednesday identified the driver as Chester Szarejko of Queens. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His minivan, a 2016 Chrysler Town and Country, was impounded for safety checks, police said.
The crash occurred between Exits 48 and 49 at about 11:12 p.m., police said.
