Lake Ronkonkoma man struck by vehicle suffers critical injuries, police say
A Lake Ronkonkoma man is in critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle while walking in his community Monday evening, Suffolk County police said.
Around 7:45 p.m., the 46-year-old man was walking south on Hawkins Avenue between School Street and Lloyd Court when he was struck by a 2016 Subaru Outback.
The man was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of critical injuries, police said.
The driver of the Subaru, a 94-year-old Holtsville man, was not injured.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
