A pedestrian was struck by a car late Friday night on Montauk Highway, just east of the William Floyd Parkway in Shirley, Suffolk police said.

Eric Hedrick, 29, of East Northport, was struck by a Chevy Malibu driven by Desiree Simpson, 24, of Mastic shortly before 11 p.m.

Simpson had a green light and Hedrick was crossing against the red, police said.

Hedrick was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where he is listed in serious condition with a head trauma.

Simpson, who was not charged, was not injured.
