Suffolk police are looking for the driver of a dark-colored sport utility vehicle that hit and killed a man on Middle Country Road in Selden on Saturday.

Marijan Crnkovic was trying to cross Middle Country Road, just east of Selden Court, in Selden shortly before 7:30 p.m. when he was struck by an eastbound SUV, police said in a news release.

The SUV was large with tinted windows, and the driver fled east on Route 25, a police spokeswoman said.

Crnkovic, 58, of Selden, was taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said they are investigating and ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. Call will be kept confidential.
