Man slashed emptying trash at Lake Ronkonkoma pet supply store
A 75-year-old employee of a Lake Ronkonkoma pet supply store was slashed early Sunday by a man trying to rob him, Suffolk County police said.
Police said the victim, who worked for Pet Supplies Plus at 601 Portion Rd., was emptying trash into a compactor at 1:40 a.m. when a man came up to him and demanded money.
The employee said he had no money and walked away, but the man followed him and slashed him across the face and in the back with an unknown weapon, police said.
The employee went to his Lake Ronkonkoma home, where he called police. He was then taken to Stony Brook University Hospital and admitted for treatment of his injuries, police said.
No one has been arrested, and the Sixth Squad is investigating, police said.
