Motorcyclist killed in hit-and-run crash in Riverside, Southampton police say
A motorcyclist from East Quogue died after being struck by a hit-and-run motorist driving a sport utility vehicle in Riverside early Tuesday morning, Southampton police said.
In a news release, police said the SUV they were searching for is a tan, 2002 GMC Envoy.
The approximately 5:45 a.m. crash occurred on County Road 104, Riverleigh Avenue, prompting police to close a section from Old Quogue Road to the traffic circle.
LeRoy Quintin Ferry, 38, the motorcyclist killed in the crash, was operating a white 2009 Hayabusa motorcycle that was going north on County Road 104.
The first responders included the State Police, the Riverhead fire department, and Flanders Volunteer Ambulance.
