Denise Wack killed after vehicle strikes 2 pedestrians in Riverhead, police say
A woman is dead after she and another pedestrian were struck by a vehicle in Riverhead on Thursday evening, Riverhead police said.
A 2009 Nissan Rogue hit Denise Wack, 37, and a 37-year-old man around 8:56 p.m. in the eastbound lane of Old Country Road near Tanger Mall Drive.
Wack was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said. The man was also taken to the same hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
No criminality is suspected in the crash at this time, but the investigation remains ongoing, police said.
