Cops: Pedestrian hit, killed crossing East Patchogue street
A 32-year-old man was struck by a pickup truck and killed while crossing a road in East Patchogue on Sunday evening, Suffolk County police said.
Police identified the victim as Mely Josue Galeas-Roque of Patchogue, who was crossing Route 112, north of Shaber Road, when he was struck by a northbound 2021 Dodge Ram pickup truck, driven by Ryan Novia at about 5:30 p.m.
Galeas-Roque was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue and was pronounced dead.
Novia, 37, did not suffer any injuries, police said. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating the crash and ask that anyone with information contact the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
