A boater spotted the body of a homeless man floating in the Great South Bay near Bay Shore on Tuesday night, police said.

Suffolk County police homicide detectives identified the man as Jose Espino-Perez, 59. His death appeared to be not criminal, police said.

The boater called police at 7:05 p.m. after spotting the body just south of Bay Shore Manor Park, police said.

A physician assistant from the Suffolk County medical examiner’s office pronounced the man dead, authorities said. That office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392.
