Police: Man bites victim in street robbery
When a man walking on a Riverside street Saturday tried to keep another man from taking his wallet, the robber bit him on the arm, Southampton Town Police said.
James Christian Licausi, 43, of Riverside faces a felony charge of third-degree robbery, police said. His arraignment information was not immediately available.
At about 5:50 a.m., as a man walked on Vail Avenue, Licausi rode up to him on a bicycle and asked him for the time, police said.
As the victim checked for the time, Licausi allegedly hit him in the face and took his wallet, which contained $130, police said.
As the man tried to hold onto the wallet, Licausi bit him in the arm until the man let go of the wallet, police said. After taking the money from the wallet, Licausi rode off, police said.
The victim had minor injuries, police said.
A news release said Licausi was suspected of the robbery and arrested Sunday at New York State Police Headquarters in Riverside.
