Woman struck in Port Jefferson Station ID'd as Rosa Maria Sinchi
Suffolk police Sunday night identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a car in Port Jefferson Station on Saturday as a 73-year-old woman.
Rosa Maria Sinchi of Sweet Wood Court in Port Jefferson Station was killed after she was hit by a 2002 Honda as she was crossing North Bicycle Path about 5:05 p.m. Saturday, police said.
The driver of the Honda, Thomas Sammartino, 17, of Port Jefferson Station, stayed at the scene, police said.
Sinchi was taken to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson, where she was pronounced dead.
Sixth Squad detectives are investigating the accident.
