Sachem removes two teachers from classroom
Two Sachem North High School teachers have been taken out of the classroom and administratively reassigned pending a district investigation into unspecified allegations made against them, school officials and sources said.
Sachem Schools issued a statement through a spokesman on Monday but did not elaborate on the allegations.
"We are currently conducting a thorough investigation of an allegation and there is no further comment at this time," said the spokesman, Chris Vaccaro.
Calls to school board members were not returned.
John Troise, president of the Sachem Central Teacher's Association, confirmed the teachers have been taken out of the classroom and the investigation is taking place but refused to identify the teachers in an effort to protect "the rights of every single person involved. That's really all the information that I have right now."
School officials have kept quiet about why the unidentified teachers were taken out of the classrooms and have asked staff to refrain from gossip and spreading rumors.
