A Middle Island man was charged early Sunday with being high on drugs while driving with his girlfriend's toddler in the car, Suffolk County police said.

Police said Shea McClave, 25, was weaving about 2 a.m. as he drove east on the Long Island Expressway near Exit 65, Horse Block Road in Farmingville.

Police said that officers pulled McClave's car over and determined that he was under the influence of drugs and saw the 3-year-old girl in the car.

McClave was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, aggravated DWI with a child 15 years old or younger, also known as Leandra's Law, and endangering the welfare of a child.

McClave was scheduled to be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip.
