A man died in single-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon on the Southern State Parkway in North Bay Shore, officials said.
Michael J. Loiacono, 29, lost control of his car at 3:23 p.m. heading eastbound on Exit 41N of the parkway when he failed to navigate the curve and drove off the roadway, hit the guardrail and rolled the vehicle, state Trooper Brittany Burton said in an email.
Loiacono suffered fatal injuries when he was thrown from the car. First responders pronounced him dead at the scene, the trooper said. There were no passengers in the vehicle, according to Burton.
After the crash, police closed all eastbound lanes near the exit, where the road merges with the Sagtikos State Parkway.
