Motorcyclist Rony Juarez-Bonilla, of Selden, killed in wrong-way crash
A Selden man riding a motorcycle the wrong way through a Mount Sinai intersection Thursday afternoon was killed in a crash with two vehicles, Suffolk police said.
Rony Juarez-Bonilla, 23, of Selden, was riding a 2012 Kawasaki north in the southbound lanes of Patchogue-Mount Sinai Road just after 2 p.m. when he struck a 2022 Honda CR-V traveling west at the intersection of Canal Road, the police said in a news release. "The motorcyclist then collided with a 2018 Dodge Ram that was stopped in the westbound turning lane on southbound Patchogue-Mount Sinai Road," the release said.
Responding officers administered CPR and additional medical aid to Juarez-Bonilla until EMS arrived, the police said.
Juarez-Bonilla was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the police. The drivers of the Honda and the Dodge escaped injury.
All three vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
No additional details about the crash, including the motorcycle's speed at the time of the initial collision, or why Juarez-Bonilla was going the wrong way on Patchogue-Mount Sinai Road, were available early Friday.
Police said the investigation is ongoing. Detectives ask anyone with information to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
