Sunrise Highway westbound lanes reopen after crash
Westbound lanes between Exits 45 and 46 on Sunrise Highway have reopened, Suffolk County police said, after a motor vehicle crash briefly closed those lanes on Saturday evening.
Police responded to a three-vehicle crash on Sunrise Highway in Islip around 4:30 p.m. A 2019 Dodge Durango rear-ended a 2023 Jeep Wrangler, causing the Jeep to overturn, police said in an emailed statement.
The occupants of the two vehicles were taken to hospitals for treatment of minor and non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
The three occupants in the Jeep were taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip. The driver of the Dodge and her passenger were taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore.
A third vehicle, a 2013 Toyota sedan, was also involved with minor damage, according to the police. The driver was not hurt.
