Suspect sought in robbery, home invasion
Suffolk County police on Wednesday asked the public's help tracking down a suspect who robbed a Deer Park business owner and then, nine days later, committed a home invasion at the same victim's residence in North Bay Shore.
Suffolk Third Squad detectives on Wednesday also made public a composite sketch of this suspect in the two crimes, which both took place in December.
A second suspect also took part in the robbery, police said. They did not provide a sketch of the second suspect.
The robbery took place on Dec. 12 at about 8:30 p.m., when the two suspects assaulted the victim and stole his cash and driver's license, police said.
"The men threatened the owner by telling him they would come back to the business or his home," a police news release said.
"Nine days later, one of the men forced their way into the home of the business owner, demanding for the occupants to tell them the whereabouts of the business owner," police said. This suspect stole a briefcase containing cash and business records, police said.
Anyone with information on the crimes is asked to make a confidential call to Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. The agency offers cash rewards for information leading to an arrest.
