Vietnam veterans entering nursing homes at surprisingly young ages
At a 350-bed medical and rehab facility, Long Island State Veterans Home in Stony Brook, which has long been a harbor for World War II and Korean War veterans in the last years of life, Vietnam veterans now make up more than a quarter of all residents, according to nursing home director Fred Sganga.
