A motorcyclist from Hampton Bays was killed Monday afternoon in Yaphank when he ran a red light and struck an SUV, Suffolk police said.

David Acevedo, 32, was riding a 2013 Suzuki motorcycle northbound on Sills Road just before 5 p.m. when he went through the red light and hit a 2020 Mercedes-Benz SUV heading westbound on Express Drive North, according to police.

Acevedo was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV, Eva Konopka, 47, of Brooklyn, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue for treatment of minor injuries, police said.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
