LIRR service restored after disruption between Jamaica and Brooklyn due to downed power lines
Downed power lines that caused a disruption to morning rush-hour service of the Long Island Rail Road Thursday between Jamaica and Brooklyn have been removed and service restored, the railroad said.
The situation also caused problems on the West Hempstead Branch, with trains being rerouted for a time.
The railroad said the issue with the downed lines, located near East New York, was reported at 2 a.m.
Service was restored at about 9:15 a.m.
The first eastbound train was scheduled to be the 9:22 a.m. train from Atlantic Terminal to Jamaica. The 9:44 a.m. train from Jamaica to Atlantic Terminal was also reinstated.
During the service disruptions the railroad said the MTA was cross-honoring fares on the 2, 3, 4, 5, A, C, J and L subway trains.
