Long Island Rail Road service was restored Sunday morning after being suspended in both directions east of Jamaica on the Ronkonkoma, Port Jefferson, Oyster Bay and Hempstead branches for about 45 minutes while police investigated a possible suspicious device at Floral Park, the LIRR said.

Authorities said the suspicious item was cleared, but no other details about it were immediately available.

No injuries were reported.

Customers had been advised to seek alternate branches, including Babylon, Montauk, West Hempstead, Far Rockaway and Long Beach, the LIRR said.
