Nighttime drivers will face road closures on the Long Island Expressway between Exits 46 and 48 in Oyster Bay next week, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The closures are for “preventative maintenance and asphalt pavement repairs,” according to department spokesman Stephen Canzoneri.

All westbound lanes between the two exits will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. starting on Sunday for one week, weather permitting, for the repair work. Likewise, all eastbound lanes will be closed between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. starting on Tuesday for one week.

Drivers will be detoured onto the north and south service roads.

Meanwhile, the DOT is closing the westbound Southern State Parkway between Exit 39 in North Babylon and Exit 32 in Farmingdale weeknights from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. for ongoing repairs.

Those repairs began Oct. 14 and are expected to continue through mid-November.

Westbound vehicles on the parkway are being detoured at Exit 39S onto State Route 231 southbound, to State Route 27 (Sunrise Highway) westbound, to State Route 110 (Broadway) northbound, to return to the Southern State Parkway.
