Meadowbrook Parkway near Exit M4 reopens after Walmart truck hit overpass
A Walmart tractor-trailer truck being driven on the Meadowbrook Parkway on Wednesday afternoon struck an overpass and overturned. The driver was treated for minor injuries; the roadway, which had been mostly closed, has been reopened, according to the New York State Police.
Photographs at the scene taken by Newsday show the Walmart tractor-trailer on its side on the parkway.
Trooper Brittany Burton, a spokesperson for the state police, said that the truck had been at a Walmart in East Meadow and was being driven to one in Pennsylvania. The crash occurred about 2:32 p.m. near Exit M4 in the vicinity of Hempstead and Uniondale.
Commercial vehicles, including the one that overturned, aren't allowed on the parkway, Burton said.
In 2018, a Walmart tractor-trailer struck an overpass in the Meadowbrook — East in Garden City — causing debris to strike two other vehicles.
