LIRR adds service for extended July 4 weekend

The Long Island Rail Road is adding service for riders traveling during the extended Independence Day holiday weekend.
On Friday and Saturday, the LIRR will operate a regular schedule, with two additional trains on Friday from Penn Station, including the 2:55 p.m. train to Ronkonkoma and the 2:38 p.m. train to Babylon. The 4:27 westbound train from Ronkonkoma will operate at 4:14 p.m.
Friday also includes the operation of the Cannonball, the popular express train to the Hamptons.
On Saturday, the 11:38 a.m. train from Montauk to Jamaica will depart Montauk, Amagansett, East Hampton, and Bridgehampton, five minutes earlier.
Sunday will feature a regular schedule but train 6012 will not make a stop at Hampton Bays instead, alternate bus service will be provided.
Monday will operate on a summer Friday schedule and includes Cannonball service. There will be two extra eastbound Port Washington Branch trains departing Grand Central at 3:08 p.m. and Penn Station at 3:26 p.m., making all stops to Great Neck.
Monday also includes three extra eastbound Babylon Branch trains between 2:04 p.m. and 2:54 p.m. that all end at Babylon.
The extra service to Babylon includes: a 2:04 p.m. from Grand Central that stops at Jamaica and Lynbrook; a 2:38 p.m. from Penn Station that stops at Jamaica and Rockville Centre; and a 2:54 p.m. from Grand Central that stops at Jamaica and Lynbrook.
The 7:18 a.m. train from Montauk to Hunterspoint Avenue will also run Monday.
On Tuesday, the LIRR will operate a summer Sunday schedule but train 6012 will not stop at Hampton Bays. Alternate bus service will be provided.
On Wednesday, the LIRR will operate on a regular Monday schedule, including the 7:18 a.m. train from Montauk to Hunterspoint Avenue.
