A wrong-way driver who caused a three-vehicle crash on the Wantagh State Parkway, injuring himself and three others on Tuesday, has dementia and had been reported missing in Connecticut, State Police said Wednesday morning.

School safety officer Jason Schafer was honored Tuesday after he sprang into action, when Tyler White, a fifth grader at Cordello Avenue Elementary School began to choke on a water bottle cap. The officer began the Heimlich maneuver and was able to help dislodge the bottle cap from Tyler's throat.
