Long Islanders will experience a consolation of sunny skies and dry temperatures this weekend after historic rain and flooding earlier in the week.

The National Weather Service forecasts that the last full weekend of August will have perfect summer conditions.

Friday will reach highs in the high 70s to low 80s and be mostly dry, said James Tomasini, NWS meteorologist.

Humidity will continue to remain low, similar to conditions mid-week.

“[It] definitely will kind of have ... that fall feel to the air that we've had the past couple days,” he said.

Temperatures will rise both Saturday and Sunday with highs in the low to mid 80s and dry conditions.

“It's going to be a nice weekend here,” said Tomasini.

If you head to the beach this weekend, rip current risks will be low — but still be mindful, Tomasini said.

Beachgoers always should swim where a lifeguard is present, as rip currents still exist, he said.

Rain isn't forecast to return until Sunday night into Monday morning, with showers and thunderstorms also possible for Monday afternoon. Humidity also will begin to rise on Sunday as the system approaches, according to Tomasini.

Any rainfall Monday will be routine, perhaps a quarter inch, and not cause anything like this past week’s intense flooding in parts of Long Island, Tomasini added.
