2011-12 girls hoops players to watch
BOOGIE BROZOSKI, GUARD, FRESHMAN
Long Island Lutheran
One of the most exciting players to watch on the Island. She averaged 13 points and six assists as an eighth grader in helping the Crusaders win the Federation Class B championship.
BROOKE GERSTMAN, GUARD, SENIOR
Lynbrook
Gerstman averaged 20 points, four assists, and three steals last season. She surpassed 1,000 career points last week.
PARIS HODGES, GUARD, JUNIOR
Southampton
Hodges makes her teammates better and is the go-to player after averaging 18 points last season. She is an outstanding athlete and is receiving interest from Division I colleges.
SYMONE KELLY, CENTER, SENIOR
St. Anthony's
Kelly is an excellent post player that added a mid-range jumper. The 6-2 Kelly averaged nine points, 10 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and one block last season. She will play at Siena.
PAIGE KRIFTCHER, GUARD, SENIOR
Long Island Lutheran
She had 11 of her 15 points in the fourth quarter as the Crusaders rallied from a 15-point deficit to win the Federation Class B championship last season. Kriftcher averaged 12 points and four assists and will attend Colgate.
ALLISON MCKENNA, CENTER, SENIOR
Glenn
The 6-2 McKenna is a force inside and she can hit shots from the outside. She averaged 17 points and 12 rebounds as a junior in leading Glenn to the Suffolk Class A county championship.
REBECCA MUSGROVE, GUARD, JUNIOR
St. Anthony's
Musgrove made big strides over the summer. The point guard handles the ball well and can shoot. She was MVP of the Metro Classic All-Star game.
KATIE POPPE, GUARD, SENIOR
Holy Trinity
Poppe is an explosive scorer. She averaged 16.5 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 steals to lead the Titans to the CHSAA semifinals last season and surpassed 1,000 career points in the first round of the CHSAA state Class A Tournament. She will play at Boston University.
CHASTITY TAYLOR, GUARD, SOPHOMORE
St. Anthony's
The 5-10 Taylor transferred from Central Islip last season and had to sit out until late January and then missed time with a broken nose. She scored 10 points in the CHSAA finals last season.
ANASTASIA WILLIAMS, CENTER, SENIOR
ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST
Williams averaged 9.7 points, 11 rebounds, and 2.2 steals for the Cougars, who reached the CHSAA finals last season. She’s a force inside and will play at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
