Bob Ambrosini didn't want to make a big deal out of his Connetquot baseball team's 11-1 win over Sachem North in Suffolk League II Thursday, but it certainly was historic.
In his 30th season at the helm, Ambrosini picked up career win No. 550, third all-time in Suffolk history.
Sal Ciampi, who is retired, had 601 wins, and Shoreham-Wading River's Sal Mignano, still coaching, has 561.
"I do appreciate it," Ambrosini said. "It's a big achievement as far as I'm concerned. It's a great honor for me and the program and the school itself."
The historic win was highlighted by Casey Baker's arm -- a run and five hits allowed in six innings. Joe Silverstein and Brian McKean had two RBIs each.
