Brentwood, the defending Long Island Class AA champion, returns this season ranked No. 23 in the Student Sports Fab 50 Fall Boys Soccer Preseason National Rankings, which were released on Aug. 12.

In their last 10 seasons, the Indians have seven undefeated league championships, eight county titles, seven Long Island titles, two state titles and one national title.

Head coach Ron Eden said that although it's nice to be ranked high in the preseason standings, it's not as special as the final rankings.

"It shows the program is strong, but it's not as meaningful as the end of the season poll," Eden said. "If you finish in the Top 25 in the nation at the end of the year, you know you had a good season. The kids are great kids."

St. Anthony's, last season's runner-up in the NSCHSAA boys soccer championship, made the rankings at No. 36.
