Talented sophomore guard Devonte Green, younger brother of San Antonio Spurs three-point specialist Danny Green, confirmed to Newsday at last weekend's Metro Classic that he is transferring to Long Island Lutheran.

Green has had a nomadic hoops history, playing on the varsity at North Babylon as a seventh- and eighth-grader, then starring for St. Mary's of Manhasset last season as a freshman. He made his decision earlier in October to join powerful LuHi, where he will team with Chris Atkinson to form a dynamic backcourt duo.

Green scored 23 points to help Long Island defeat New York City, 119-118, in an exciting Metro Classic boys game on Sunday, Oct. 27, at historic Archbishop Molloy High School in Queens.

The Long Island team rallied from a 94-81 fourth-quarter deficit to win the annual "Boros vs. Burbs" preseason all-star game. Green scored 10 points in the fourth quarter and Aaren Edmead of Deer Park scored 11 of his 13 points in the final period, including four clutch free throws in the final minute.
