Flower Hill Village trustee Scott H. Siller gets nod for Nassau district court judge

Scott H. Siller was more than happy to cut short his European vacation.

Siller, his wife and two sons were in France when the 52-year-old attorney received some welcome news from back home: He had been chosen by the North Hempstead Democratic Committee to run for Nassau district court judge.

Siller rushed back to Long Island and signed the papers on Friday to become the official candidate on the Democratic, Independence, Working Families and Green lines.

“To me, it was a godsend,” said Siller, who is in his second year as a Flower Hill village trustee. “It was like Ed McMahon telling you that you won the lottery.”

Siller replaced North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman, who last Monday declined the judicial nomination. Kaiman was picked by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo to be the special adviser for Long Island Storm Recovery as part of the New York Rising Community Reconstruction Program that Cuomo introduced last week.

“I’ve been representing people for 23 years,” Siller said. “To have an actual chance to show compassion and justice at the same time for people who would come before me is an honor and something I would be able to handle very well.”
