Mastic Beach homeowners struggling to save their homes from foreclosure can discuss their status with foreclosure prevention experts on Friday.

State Assemb. Fred W. Thiele Jr. (I-Sag Harbor) and Suffolk County Legis. Kate Browning are sponsoring the service along with the New York State Department of Financial Services on Aug. 24.

“Too many homeowners are facing foreclosure and don’t know where to turn,” Thiele said in a release.

A mobile command center will be set up for homeowners wanting to speak with foreclosure prevention specialists from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at William Paca Middle School, 338 Blanco Dr.

“Our national economy continues to struggle and homeowners are the most affected,” Browning said in the release.

The meetings will remain confidential while specialists assess where Mastic Beach residents are in the pre-foreclosure or foreclosure process.

Depending on the situation, the specialists may offer assistance with applying for mortgage modifications. Experts also will intercede with mortgage lenders on behalf of homeowners.

Attendees should bring paperwork, letters, copies of correspondence and bank and mortgage statements.

“Whether you’re from Mastic or Montauk or anywhere in between, I urge you to come out,” Thiele said.
