Former Long Beach City Councilman Michael Fagen, who faces up to 4 years in prison in a larceny case, will appear at Nassau County District Court in Mineola on Wednesday for sentencing.
He was convicted after a jury trial in February. Justice Meryl Berkowitz on Friday scheduled Fagen's sentencing.
Fagen was removed from the Long Beach City Council after being convicted of petty larceny and 18 counts of offering a false instrument for filing. Fagen illegally collected more than $15,000 in unemployment checks in 2010 while he was serving on the City Council, a Nassau jury decided.
Fagen was originally scheduled to be sentenced on April 8, but Berkowitz had not reviewed all of Fagen's parole reports, and sentencing was pushed back, said Fagen's attorney, Marc Gann of Mineola.
Jurors were split on the top charge against Fagen, which was grand larceny.
