Historian to give Glen Cove walking tour
Local historian Joan Harrison will conduct a walking tour of the city on Saturday.
The 11 a.m. tour by the author of “Glen Cove Revisited: The Heart of the Gold Coast,” is sponsored by the Roslyn Landmark Society and is free for members and $5 for nonmembers.
The tour will discuss Glen Cove’s history from its founding in the late 17th century as a mill town, its settlement by immigrants of various ethnicities, and its days as the home of J.P. Morgan and other Gold Coast mansion-builders.
Reservations are required by calling 516-625-4363 or by e-mail to rlsinfo@optimum.net.
