The Town of Islip is extending hours at beaches and pools for the July Fourth holiday.

In a news release, the town cited the warmer temperatures expected for the holiday Tuesday and residents’ requests as the reason for the extension.

Ocean beaches will close at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Bay beaches and Shipwreck Cove Spray Park in Bay Shore will close at 7 p.m. Byron and Casamento pools will close at 7:30 p.m.

Closed beaches include Bayport Beach, which is open on weekends only, and East Islip Beach, which opens for the season on Saturday.
