Islip Town Board OKs waste removal deal
The Islip Town Board voted unanimously yesterday to award a multiyear contract to a Sayville-based company to provide solid waste removal for the Atlantique Beach Marina Facility on Fire Island.
Tony’s Barge Service Inc. has held the contract for several years and was the lowest bidder, said Deputy Supervisor Trish Bergin Weichbrodt.
The company will be paid $26,900 both in 2013 and 2014 and can bill the town $500 for each additional 10-yard container over the agreed-upon collection amount.
Tony’s Barge Service has the option of extending the contract by an additional two years.
