Light snow dusts LI, some schools delayed
A dusting of early-morning snow caused a flurry of delays for Long Island drivers Wednesday morning.
Most of the delays were in New York City, on tunnels and bridges. However, westbound on the Long Island Expressway at Exit 62, Nicolls Road, traffic was slowed at 6:30 a.m. by the light snow. Delays were about six to 10 minutes.
As of 7 a.m., some school districts on Long Island have announced delays, including: Amagansett, Bridgehampton, East Hampton, Port Jefferson, Sagaponack and Wainscott Common.

Other westbound delays were at Exit 39, Glen Cove Road, and Exit 36, Searingtown Road, according to reports.
Most reports involved vehicle spinouts and skidding on secondary roads, including Station Road and Beaver Dam Road in North Bellport in Suffolk County.
According to the National Weather Service in Upton, light snow could continue to fall on Long Island till noon. However, afternoon temperatures in the high 30s should make the snow relatively insignificant.
Total daytime accumulation is expected to be less than one inch, according to the service.
Later in the week, the snow could pickup, with chances of snow at 50 percent on Friday and 80 percent on Saturday, according to forecasts.
