There are several places Long Islanders can donate food an other items for the holidays. Credit: AP

In an effort to keep needy Long Islanders provided for during the holidays, local businesses and organizations are hosting assorted charity drives. Here is a list of where you can help donate. If you know of one you don’t see here, please send it to litowns@newsday.com.

COAT DRIVES:

* Homes By Mara Realty in Syosset is hosting a holiday coat drive through Christmas. Donations can be dropped off daily between 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at its collection box at its office, located in Suite 205 at 567 Jericho Tpke. Pickup arrangements for bulk coat donations can be made by contacting Linda Freedman at 917-743-2724. The coats will be donated to One Warm Coat in Garden City, which will distribute the coats to those in need.

TOY DRIVES:

* On Sunday, a toy drive will be held at 9 a.m. to benefit Toys for Tots, at 1 School St., Glen Cove, rain or shine. Afterwards, at 10 a.m. there will be a complimentary breakfast, with live music and raffles at Ferrari - Maserati of Long Island in Plainview. * The John Theissen Children’s Foundation, at 1881 Wantagh Ave., Wantagh, is collecting new, unwrapped toys for sick or needy children across Long Island, ages infant to 18. Its 22nd annual toy drive begins Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and continues Dec. 8, 14, 15, 21 and 22. For more information, email john@jtcf.org, or call 516-679-TOYS.

* Joe Vicino’s annual Rockin’ Toy Drive on Sunday at 3 p.m. will also benefit the John Theissen Children’s Foundation. The drive will take place at 1828 Sunrise Hwy. in Merrick. For more information, call 516-623-4449.

* A Toys for Tots drive will be held Monday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Fox Hollow Country Club, 7725 Jericho Tpke., Woodbury. * The Jessie Haynes & Friends 10th Annual Toys for Tots Concert & Open Mic night is on Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. at Vail-Leavitt Music Hall in Riverhead to benefit Toys for Tots. For more information, call 631-727-5782 or email jessiehaynes@live.com.

* The “Gifts for Kids” Holiday Toy Benefit will be held Dec. 14 at 9 p.m. at Changing Times Pub, 1247 Melville Rd., Farmingdale. There will be live music and prizes. Admission is $5 or an unwrapped children’s toy. For more information, call 631-694-6492.

* The Plainview Water District is a designated drop-off location for the Marine Toys for Toys Foundation. Long Islanders can drop off any new, unwrapped toys at the district's administrative office, at 10 Manetto Hill Rd., Plainview through Tuesday, Dec. 17. * The Town of North Hempstead is holding donation drives for toys, socks and personal care items. Toy collection boxes will be at Town Hall, at 220 Plandome Rd., Manhasset; Clinton G. Martin Park, at 1601 Marcus Ave., New Hyde Park; and Public Works at 285 Denton Ave., New Hyde Park. Its annual Hannah’s Socks and Personal Care drives provide items for the Interfaith Nutrition Network. They need new men’s, women’s and children’s socks, toothpaste, deodorant, disposable razors, baby diapers and wipes and towels. Drop boxes will be set up at all town facilities. The Hannah’s drive will run through January and Toys for Tots boxes will be at town facilities until Dec. 17. For more information, contact 516-869-6311.

FOOD DRIVES:

* LaMantia Gallery, at 127 Main St. in Northport, is hosting a holiday party on Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. celebrating the life of Dr. Seuss, featuring a costume contest and food drive. For more information call 631-754-8414 or visit lamantiagallery.com.

* On Dec. 14, a Mazarin holiday concert and canned food drive will be held at 89 North Music Venue in Patchogue. Admission is $15 to enjoy a rock and roll band concert with Grateful Dead tribute band Half Step and The Drunk Unkles blues band at 7:30 p.m. Bring canned goods to donate to the Manorville Community Church’s food pantry. * Veteran advocate group Boots on the Ground NY is holding a holiday food drive for veteran and military families on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at its Veteran Activity Center, at 2184 Pond Rd., Ronkonkoma. The group has a Veteran Food Pantry open year round and also delivers holiday meals to veterans. The group will be accepting frozen turkeys, hams and roasts and the trimmings, as well as new, unwrapped toys for boys and girls ages 2-16. PET FOOD DRIVES:

* Lily Flanagan’s, at 345 Deer Park Ave. in Babylon Village, is hosting the “Holiday Pawty and Pet Food Drive Benefit” on Dec. 19. Attendance is $59.95 in advance, or an extra $10 more at the door, along with a can of dog or cat food, for dinner, appetizers and beverages. For more information call 631-446-1105.
