Aynsley designed and created her dress (with the help of her friend, Kei Kurakake), and she made a matching bow tie for Shearer. Shearer returned the favor by creating a paper rose corsage for her out of comic book paper.

Dom Famularo, a 2012 graduate of Earl L. Vandermeulen, and Julianna Pollian, a 2013 graduate, got in the spirit for the school's "Rock-n-Royals" prom theme, which included a red carpet entrance for students witnessed by the community on June 27, 2016. Dom's brother Max had just graduated and attended the prom. Dom's father, also named Dom, is a world-famous drummer and drum teacher whose students include Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and Nickelback drummer Daniel Adair. The elder Dom helped secure items like a dress worn by Taylor Swift to decorate the gymnasium.

Will asked a local police officer to help him with a prom-posal--and the officer, along with two others, pulled Gabriella over as she left school earlier in the year--at which time Will revealed himself and asked her to the prom. "I was confused," said Gabriella, "I knew that there was nothing wrong...I had heard Will might have been working on this, but I was still totally surprised. How did Will get the police to help? "I waited outside the station, and when an officer came in to park, I asked her...they took down Gabriella's information and about the time she would be in the car." However, despite being pulled over unexpectedly, Gavalas appreciated the effort, "I was like 'Oh my...', but I totally said 'Yes." (June 18, 2016)
