SUPERVISOR MURRAY TAKES ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE

Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray and Sen. Al D’Amato took a twist on the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge with a surprise performance for the audience.

Murray, who was challenged by D’Amato, met a crowd of residents in front of Hempstead Town Hall on Friday, to be covered with what the audience thought would be 200 gallons of ice water dumped by a payloader.

But, as she playfully expressed her last-minute doubts about getting doused, D’Amato sneaked up behind Murray and poured a bucket of ice water on her.

Murray then called up the Town of Hempstead commissioners to get in on the fun, and the payloader emptied out the rest of the freezing water on the group.

Murray nominated Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor John Venditto, along with Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth, and donated $500 to the cause.
