A $1 million second-prize Powerball ticket for Saturday's drawing was sold at a Garden City gas station, the New York Lottery announced Sunday.

The ticket was sold at the Garden City Super Pumper store at 791 Stewart Ave.

Muhammad Bhatti, a part-time store employee, said he was working on Saturday and could have possibly sold the winning ticket. Though the staff can't pinpoint the winner, he said they were surprised to find out the store sold the million-dollar ticket.

"When I work I don't see a winner," Bhatti told Newsday. " Some people play regularly, we have a lot of customers."

Players select five numbers from 1 to 69, and one Powerball number from 1 to 26. The Powerball drawings are broadcast every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m.

The state lottery calculates that Powerball has contributed $3.59 billion in fiscal year 2020-21 to help support education.

So far this year on Long Island two other second-prize $1 million tickets were sold at a Sunoco APlus mini market in Hempstead and at a 7-Eleven convenience store in Copiague. A Uniondale man also won $10 million on a $30 scratch-off ticket for the second time in three years back in February.
