Two Nassau County residents are the latest lucky Long Islanders after winning multimillion-dollar jackpots on scratch-off tickets.
The winners got their ceremonial prize checks Friday at the lottery’s Customer Service Center, the New York Lottery said.
Satishkumar Patel, 37, of Manhasset Hills, won $5 million in the Bankroll game. Pedro Argueta, 59, of Carle Place, won $3 million in the 50X the Money game.
Argueta, who plays the lottery three times a week, picked his game because he has had luck with it in the past “so I stuck with it,” the lottery said in a news release.
He bought the ticket at New Carle Place Farm on Westbury Avenue in Carle Place.
Argueta took a one-time lump sum payment and will get a net check of $1,592,166 after required withholdings, the lottery said.
Argueta said he plans to buy a new house with his winnings.
Patel said he only plays “two or three times a month,” so when he stopped at SH Stationery on Main Street in Flushing to purchase his ticket it was random, according to the lottery.
“At first I thought I won $500,000,” Patel said. “The next day I realized it was actually $5 million!”
Patel gets a net check of $3,359,000 after required withholdings, the lottery said.
With his winnings he plans to pay for his kids’ college education and a new car for his father.
