Nassau County’s official living wage rose Wednesday to $14.91, according to a statement from the office of Comptroller George Maragos.

The new rate is up 30 cents from $14.61. The hourly wage for employees who receive health care coverage through work is $13.11, the statement said.

In effect since 2007, the Living Wage Law applies to county employees and contracted workers whose agreements are worth more than $25,000.

Yearly increases to the living wage occur every Aug. 1 to ensure county employees make a “decent hourly wage,” the statement said.
