A United Express flight bound for Washington, D.C. was evacuated before it pushed off Wednesday evening because of a bomb threat, the Port Authority said.

Before departure from John F. Kennedy International Airport about 7:40 p.m., Flight 5714 was deplaned and its luggage rescreened as officials responded to the threat. Port Authority and airline officials could not say late Wednesday night where the bomb threat originated.

A Port Authority spokesman said the plane was detained and searched by the FBI. About an hour later, no evidence of a bomb was found. The plane was re-boarded and departed Kennedy Airport about 9:45 p.m., authorities said.
